Song of the day: Falling On by Finger Eleven
Welcome! Welcome!
Welcome, brave soul, for visiting the debut post on MuseTracks. This blog is hosted by four aspiring authors planning to take over the world, er, I mean, four aspiring authors on their journey to publication.
Today I’ll give you a brief tour on what to expect from us here at MuseTracks.
First, I’ll start by letting you in on a little secret. Shhh. Marie-Claude, Candi, John and I are newbies. Crazy, I know. But we’d like to share with you our take on this topsy-turvy life we know as writing.
Since meeting on an online romance critique forum earlier this year, we’ve bonded, forming a clandestine club complete with passwords and secret handshakes. We bring to you volumes on what we have learned of the craft and writing industry; our trials and tribulations, our embarrassing mistakes, our woe-is-me tears, and our happy dances. Each of us have rocketed into the stratosphere on highs and scraped the bottom of the barrel on lows. And each of us has something to say about it. We are writers, hear us roar!
Our mission, should we choose to accept it, is to share our intuitive and snarky knowledge with other aspiring writers and have some fun along the way.
Here are a few topics we’ll be covering.
Research – tricky and easy ways to get the info you need
Contests – we’ve got plenty to say about these
Loooove Scenes – oh yeah – we’ve got you covered here – BowChicaWowWow
Home Life and the Writer – A.K.A. “The Balancing Act,” “Guilt Trip Road,” or “When is This Hobby of Yours Going to Start Paying the Bills?”
Promotions – getting your name out there – they can run but they can’t hide
Agent Search – do I hear a collective groan?
The Male POV – we’ve got an advantage here with John at the helm
Book Trailers, Websites and MySpace – how to make them work to your advantage
Rejections – sniff – what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger
Motivation – trapping it and holding it for ransom
Alpha Males – is it hot in here?
Our Experiences – to conferences, pitching, NanoWrimo, critiquing, queries, synopsis writing, post office nightmares and beyond. . .
Rule breaking – hear our rebel yells
And much, much more.
We’ll also feature series posts.
Interviews with Contest Winners – get insight on how these writers do it.
The Fit Writer – be smokin’ in that dress in time for the national RWA conference this summer OR keep your butt from getting writer’s “block” within your chair
Mood Music – guess the song and artist to posted lyrics that reflect our ever-changing frame of mind
There will be give-aways, links to awesome and helpful sites, posts of HOT, HOT, HOT eye candy for visual stimulation and we encourage open discussions.
Come in and take a look around. I promise it won’t hurt and you might even get some sick pleasure out of it.
Do you have any topics you’d like us to hash over? Let us know.
Jenn!

More topic?? Jee Jenn! I didn’t think we’d be covering so much…except for the eye candy of course LOL.
Thanks for taking this show of the run girl!!!
Welcome to the Blogosphere! I love that you’ve joined forces to share your writing journeys and to offer what you’ve learned as support and encouragement to others traveling the path to publication.
Looks like you’ve got some great posts planned. I’ll bookmark your site in Google reader so I don’t miss a one.
I’m excited to see that you’re going to have the male POV covered by John. I can already tell he’s a true guy who doesn’t utter as many words per day as his feminine counterparts. How, you ask? His is the only bio that currently offers no info.
Either he’s a regular man-of-few-words or he’s shy. I’m going with the first choice.
I hope John plans posts on malespeak done right. I’d love to get a guy’s take on dialogue for a real hero from one. (Any guy willing to hang in the typically estrogen-filled environment of romance writers is a hero in my book.)
Wishing you volumes of visitors, a profusion of page views, copious comments–and tons of fun.
P.S. Thanks for the link to my blog, Romance Writers on the Journey, where your own Marie-Claude was recently interviewed.
YAY! Another blog to add to my growing list of Must Read Blogs. I look forward to hearing your stories…
Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging. Best of luck with it and with your quest to publish!

Good job, Jenn, on a debut post!
Here’s to a year filled with debuts for all of you. Publishing debuts.

Congrats, all,
Kris
Welcome to the blogging world. It’s addicting, fun, and at time frustrating. But you’ll all do wonderful.
Renee
Hi Jenn, added you to my blog reader on google. And you do know your blogs are also good fodder for articles that your chapter newsletter needs. It cries out “Feed me”
Ruth
Hi Guys!
Wow, your blog looks awesome! I’m going to link to it tomorrow, with some other stuff I have planned.
Your post titles rock. I really like the Guilt Trip Road, and trapping the muse.
Warn me when you have eye candy coming up. I’m on a diet. LOL
This is so cool! I can’t wait to read your posts.
And thanks for putting my blog on your sidebar. Too cool.
Anyways, I’m gushing all over the place here, but really, GREAT IDEA! Your titles are catchy, the name of your blog is catchy… This is gonna be great.
Do you guys have a schedule for posting? I’ll check it out.
As always, Jenn, you’re hilarious.
See you all later.
Jessie
Sounds like a great blog! And congratulations on your launch! Everybody has to start somewhere.
Wow! Everything I need! Your blog is bookmarked, and I look forward to reading your posts. Marion
What a wonderful new venture, ladies and gentleman! It can be a cold, cruel world out there for us pre-pubbies and I welcome your all-encompassing enthusiasm. I’ll be sure to be back and join in the festivities.
The muse takes many forms and it certainly looks like you will have it totally covered.
Good luck on this new adventure. As stated previously, may this year be filled with many debuts. This blog page is great and when is this hobby going to start paying the bills? I look forward to the sick pleasure this will bring!
Blog looks Great, Jenn! I’ll be adding it to my favorites. I’m looking forward to learning lots of good stuff from you guys. Can’t wait!! Best of Luck!

Okay you musers, first topic: What’s your schedule gonna be like? Or is it random?
And yeah, I saw John was missing his bio.
John, where are you?
Teehee
Whoa, why do I have that pic next to my name? Very weird.
Secret Handshakes, passwords and everything! To think I started out on a parallel quest solo. I’ll make sure I check in with you from time to time. Great Job!
Hey Jessica,
I have my first interview scheduled for Dec 21th. I’m asking Stephie Smith her thoughts and tips on writing contests.
I’ll be doing those “contest-how to” interviews every other Mondays!
I have Sindee Sexton/Cynthia Ann Arends coming on Dec 28th.
Marie-Claude
Marie-Claude,
Can you please remind us on the CHRW loop about the two interviews you have scheduled? Thanks.
I came at the beginning, but was just checking back. I’m glad you all have done so well!
Julie
Yes I will, definitely Julie.
I plan to have those every other Mondays. I have a lot of great writers to interviews.
This will be a real fun blog!!!
Hey Jenn!! The blog looks great – I’ve already added it to my favorites!!!! Have a very Merry Christmas!!
Julie
Thanks Stephie. As a new writer who has never submitted anything to a contest, I really take your words to heart.
MC—I’ll be checking out your site for more valuable info like todays blog. Thanks for having Stephie.
Julie R.
Hey M-C!
Do your finger stretches. We wouldn’t want you to get cramps with all those blogs you’ll be typing!
Hi Keli!
Thanks for dropping in. Great to have you!! And don’t let John fool you. He has his moments where he’s wordier than a biddie chasing after her chicks! LOL! Whoops better redeem myself. He’s our own Alpha male here on MuseTracks and will no doubt be keeping us in line.
Thanks again for being a part of our family.
Hi Letty
Wasn’t it just a little over a year ago when we were climbing Mt. Everest at the gym where you were telling me about this new fandangled thing on the web called a blog???
