Hump Day Kick Start – Contemplation Edition

Hump Day Kick Start – for your muse, a writing picture prompt, or just a visual treat.

Ever have that precarious notion that one tiny move this way or that could be…devasting?

Tell me about today’s prompt. Who is he? What is going on? Has he had enough of this life? Been hurt one too many times by the ones he loves? Deliberating, mulling over what would happen if he just took that step? Would it matter? Maybe there is something more sinister going on here. Perhaps he just pushed someone. He had an obstacle and he took care of it. Or…suppose he is a brooding superhero watching over his city.

Tell me a tale or caption the pic.

Jenn, great picture, and with pictures like this I will never get back to editing George & Gracie, I’ll just keep working on the 1st draft of Book of Souls.

    Happy to help, Ruth. Haha!

“Leon! LEON!” screeched his distraught mother. “Get back off that ledge!”
No reply from Leon, who continued to gaze into the dark streets far below.
“Leon, just because you read comic books in my basement all day, does NOT mean you really are Batman.”

  4. jbrayweber says:

Leon, huh? Pretty sure you did that on purpose, Jeff. 😉

Here is the beginning of a scene in chapter one

He stood at the precipice of the city, surveying all that moved below him. The city was ever changing, humans moving about the streets, never truly knowing reality. Each carrying out daily, mundane acts that seem so important to their lives. They weren’t his concern today, only her, the Guardian. She wandered the streets, searching, but not knowing what she seeks. She’d accepted a destiny she didn’t understand, and what was worse, the others had abandoned her. Those who should have been assigned to help her adjust, to teach her, advise her just weren’t there.
    Why?
Was it because the Book had chosen her? Maybe they didn’t think she was worthy of the task or perhaps she was a mistake, someone in the wrong place at the right time.
Not bloody likely, the book wouldn’t have reveal itself to her. No, something else was going on, he just didn’t have a clue as to what it could be. And the biggest surprise of all–he cared.
Now that was a problem, he cared. He wanted to protect her and that just wasn’t in his nature. For now he would just watch over her. After all she was on the hunt, it would be interesting to see how she handled herself and if she had the chops to be a Guardian.

I’m ready to read this book, Ruth.

  7. rekenjura says:

I’ll send it to you as soon as it is finished

  8. pibarrington says:

“Huh. Bodies really DO go splat when they hit the ground. Good to know.”

  9. pibarrington says:

I just felt like I wanted to post something “different” this time.

  10. jbrayweber says:

Well, keep it up. I love to read the different idea and themes people come up with.
