Hump Day Kick Start – Billy and his Blade Edition

Hump Day Kick Start – for your muse, a writing picture prompt, or just a visual treat.

Since announcing the Romance on the High Seas box set of 7 swashbuckling tales yesterday, pirates are on my mind this week. Well…they’re always on my mind. So I give you this week’s prompt—Billy.

He doesn’t have to be a pirate. He could be a mercenary, a blacksmith, heck, even a taxidermist. Whoever he is to you, what’s his story? What is going through his mind? Is he angry, contemplative, remorseful, scared, or insane? Could he be plotting revenge? Spiraling into a dark place in his mind over the loss of someone he loved? About to deliver justice to a captive? Cleaning his nails?

Tell me a tale, mate, or caption the pic. I’d love to hear from ya!

He stared at the blade. He’d killed her.
Killed the woman he loved and why?
    Who decides? The council?
He deserved Hell. Didn’t matter anyway. What was existence without her? Nothing held meaning for him any more.
No right, no wrong just blind action. How did he let this happen? He was a protector. Her protector. He’d failed.
    Failed her.
    Failed himself.
    Failed existence.

Oooh…very nice, Ruth. Is this a part of that book you’re writing?

I think so, I am working on background information and why he feels a connection to Cassie. Also, why he was sent to guard over Hell. There is a conspiracy afoot and I am trying to finesse the root of all problems . The first half of the book ( the part written) has them being drawn together, and the initial pull- now the meat of the story begins with back story being filtered in, Cassie is the regeneration of the the Ancient Angel he loved, protected and killed. The is a malevolent force hiding as an Angel that set all events in motion and is the one trying to prevent Cassie from discovering her previous life. – now is the time for the twists and turns- and for the roller coaster to begin.

    No comment on the prompt.
My sister and best friend, Loni passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, 3/28/2017 so I am basically out of my mind and dealing with it by not dealing with it. I was beside her at the end. It was brutal and surreal at the same time. In any case, maybe I’ll be back at some point.

My deepest condolences on your loss, Patti. I wish that was enough to take the pain away. It takes time to heal. Do that for yourself. We’ll always be here. (((hugs)))

Hiram glared at Ethel in the darkness of that chamber.
“This will difficult with only candlelight,” he muttered.
She watched intently as he stroked his thumb along the back edge of the long blade.
“Some of these cuts could be…” he paused and gulped, “… painful.”
Ethel noted he had moved closer to the counter where she sat.
“Great care must be taken to obtain the most, um, satisfaction from the entire experience,” he intoned.
“Oh, for Heaven’s sakes, Hiram,” hissed Ethel sharply, “Just chop the salad and let’s eat!”
