Hump Day Kick Start – Waterside Edition

Hump Day Kick Start – for your muse, a writing picture prompt, or just a visual treat.

Today’s prompt is a little soggy. Who is she and is she on the banks of a lake or the sea? I’d like to think she sitting in a coastal tidal pool. Is she lamenting because someone stole her voice? Or waiting for her pirate lover to return? Could she be a siren debating on whether she should stay on land with the man she loves or return to her home beneath the surface? What if she’s plotting to drag someone into the depths out of revenge? Perhaps she already has is regretting what she’s done and is grieving him. Or maybe she’s just bummed that Shark Week is over.

What’s your take? Tell me a tale or caption the pic. I’d love to hear from you.

  1. Jeff Salter says:

    Poor Ophelia.
She thought she was the main squeeze of the prince, but things have gone badly lately.
She already knew he was troubled, but everybody said he could shake it off. Well, his father’s death was hard on him… and then there were reports of him experiencing spiritual visitations from dear ole dad.
All this had taken its toll on his relationship with Ophelia.
She’d kinds lost track of the order of events, since everything had gone to pot in such a tumble.
It was probably when the prince’s mom, who’d only recently been widowed, was already consorting with her former brother-in-law.
    That was the limit.
The prince went over the edge, lashed out at Ophelia, and even suggested she change her vocational plans.
    A nunnery, indeed.
Alas, this on-again-off-again relationship with the disturbed prince was too volatile… too unpromising a future. He’d never marry her, he likely wouldn’t live to inherit the throne… and she’d never become queen.
Nothing left to do but take a long, slow, sinking… swim.

Haha! You are something else, Jeff! Love your spin on the tale. And of course, I love it when you go dark.
