Hump Day Kick Start – Writing Prompt #40

Writing prompts to kick-start your muse.

My imagination skipped a happy beat to this prompt.

Who are the twins? Are they rich or poor? Good/evil? Famous/infamous? How is the yesterday twin different? Is the twin unique and sought after for some power? Do they hold the key to the world’s destruction? Salvation? Are the twins normal members of society, but one is a serial killer? Could the twin be destined to become a traveler of space and time or break through the realms of an alternate reality? Maybe they are the one person in the universe that can properly and neatly fold a fitted sheet.

Share your ideas and/or post your creations, even if it’s just a line or two. I’d love to hear them.

  1. Jeff Salter says:

Like the Biblical humans, Jacob and Essau, the second of these twins came out clutching on to the heel of the first born.
But these particular twins were not human, of course.
In fact, none of the attending physicians were able to classify them. The best they could do was describe their unusual features: fangs, claws, hooves, and fur.
One other distinguishing characteristic: ravenous hunger. The second-born was not only CLUTCHING the heal of her slightly earlier twin… but she was gnawing on it.
In fact, by the time the doctors had fully delivered Hilda, she had devoured that foot, up to the lower calf.
Hulda, of course, was screaming bloody murder — which, in this circumstance, had only been mingled with the gasps and curses of the humans in the room.
The mother, mercifully, was completely out — and her surprises would be waiting for her to come out from anesthesia.
