Hump Day Kick Start – Writing Prompt #61

Writing prompts to kick-start your muse.

Ooh. Creepy. What do you suppose is watching her? A ghost? If so, whose? An hungry monster with saliva dripping from its fangs? The Grim Reaper patiently waiting?  Her boss?

Share your ideas and/or post your creations, even if it’s just a line or two. I’d love to hear them.

Happy October!

  1. Jeff Salter says:

“Yes, master, I will obey,” said Lilly, as she shifted her eyes as far as possible to attempt a clear view of the actual face which had been monitoring her for hours via its reflection on her computer screen.
With no audible response, Lilly tried to continue typing. But the stare through the glare of the screen was too distracting. If only she could avoid looking directly at that face! As long as she focused on her screen, she was safe — relatively speaking. But if she even — for an instant — looked directly into those all-seeing eyes… she was doomed.
“I understand your command,” stated Lilly. “I only ask for a few more minutes to finish this paragraph.” Though even as she spoke, she realized she’d far outstayed her time away from the powerful force that ruled her household… day and night.
“Okay, I give up, master,” she finally said, scooting back her chair and rising abruptly. “Not my schedule, but yours, oh master.”
To that, the creature purred loudly and stroked its furry tail against Lilly’s bare ankles.
“So what will it be tonight? Chopped salmon or shredded chicken?”
The ravenous Maine Coon didn’t reply directly, but would likely be content with either.
As long as Lilly obeyed his command and stopped whatever she was doing to feed him.

Soooo not scary, but I love it all the same. Very cute, and a story I can relate to, for sure. *scratches Binx’s head, the large black, long-haired cat lounging on the desk*
