Hump Day Kick Start – Cemetery Fires

Hump Day Kick Start – for your muse, a writing picture prompt, or just a visual treat.

How about this one for a chilling prompt. Well, maybe not chilling…with fire, and all.

Is this an apocalypse and those bound by hell are rising? Are the townsfolk trying to destroy the cursed witches/vampires/zombies crawling their way to the surface? Is this the work of a pyrokinetic child? Or the Sanderson Sisters? Did Smokey the Bear finally snap?

What’s your take? Tell me a tale or caption the pic. I’d love to hear from you.

  1. Jeff Salter says:

The eruption of the ancient volcano near the little town of Pom-Pay has sent flaming missiles over the nearby countryside. Houses, barns, and even churches were scorches — some burning to the ground.
“Get the bucket brigade up this cemetery hill,” begged the priest.
“Can’t do it, Padre,” said Raoul.
“Why not?” demanded the priest. “These sacred graves on holy ground are burning!”
“That may be,” countered Raoul, “but down at the foot of that slope are more houses, and our school building. Those souls are still alive… and we’ve got to save them!”
