What’s “Agent/Editor Shop” you ask?
This isn’t a contest… there aren’t any winners… just a chance to put your pitch in front of acquiring agent/editors(s). They’ll read the pitches and request more if your pitch grabs their attention. What they request is up to them. We do not make guarantees.
Agent/Editor Shop will only be “open” one day, per quarter, and we only take the first twenty pitches.
After the pitches go live on the blog, the agent/editor read and decide if they want more. They will then contact us and we will forward on information to the author(s) who received requests. We will also post results after the agent/editor contacts us. Just the total number of requests made—no specifics or names.
The rules are simple and easy to follow. They must be adhered to in order for you to be considered by our guest agent or editor.
**Very Important** Please check each agent/editor’s website for what types/genres they accept.
- We will post a big green GO! on the HOME page the Sunday morning of the Shop. All entries must be submitted on that day. (1 Day Only)
- You will send your entry to musetracks.blog@gmail.com with NO attachments. All the required information must be in the body of the email.
- Only one pitch per email. No exceptions.
- The pitch must be 200 words or less. No exceptions. Word count WILL be verified before your pitch is accepted. (Contact info is not counted toward your pitch word count.)
- Please put Agent/Editor Shop in the subject line.
- The email should follow this format:
Title
Genre/Subgenre
Word count of manuscript
Your 200 word synopsis pitch
- We will take the first 20 pitches. A big red STOP! will be posted when we have 20 viable pitches. Please note that we will not contact you if these rules are not followed. They simply will not be used. If your pitch was one of the first thirty to reach our inbox, you’ll see it posted the next day, on the main page of the MuseTracks blog, for the shopping agent/editor to peruse.
This is a great opportunity to get in front of an agent/editor, so most important of all—polish that pitch until it shines! Hone your synopsis. Double check spelling and grammar. Strictly follow the rules. Breathe.

I’m so excited by this, I’m breaking a rule I set for myself this month. I had vowed to not enter any contests, join any classes or do any extraneous stuff other then WRITE. My self imposed isolation has just been busted! I’ll be waiting for the GO button to be pressed. How fun!! Stacey

As to word count. Yes, for the novel. Agents requested word count of the novel so they can better understand what kind of work they are looking at.

By Romance Genre, do you mean in the way Fantasy is sometimes considered a Romance genre? Mine’s a Historical Fantasy with hardly an announce of romance in it, but plenty of romanticism. 🙂

I’m sorry if I missed it, but are we putting the pitch IN the e-mail or attaching it?
Also, do you want the name/contact e-mail/genre/subgenre/title and word count ALL in the e-mail before the pitch if it is embedded in the e-mail.
I just don’t want you to slap that delete key on me because I didn’t ask. You know what they say about when you ASSUME anything…

We accept pitches from anyone, anywhere. My only piece of advice here is that you check on the attending agent’s website to make sure they accept international before you pitch.

Am very interested in participating as my women’s novel is completed & as polished as I alone can make it.
My problem is that when I click on the “attending” button, I keep getting this message: “Something went wrong. We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can. You may be able to try again.” Yet this event shows up on my FB profile page.

Don’t worry about the attending issue on FB. We all know how FB has its quirks!
Just have your pitch within the guidelines of our rules and send it in as soon as you see the word GO posted on Sunday!
If you’re in the first thirty I recieve and your pitch is within the guidelines, you’re in!

Not looking for a typical agent type but a director interested in forming a partnership. Someone who wants to shape a writing career. Great at creating not so good with the other. Hi Candi: Just read your bio and it seems we have a lot in common, except the animal control part. I do have pets though 🙂 Anyway, I am also a stay-at-home mom, part-time writer and a subsitute teacher.
Qtn: I’m still working out how all these genre titles work. It says include genre/subgenre. I consider my novel to be a romantic drama. Can I put that?

As far as genre, I’d be as concise as possible. Romantic drama, unfortunatly, is rather vague. When pitching, your title and genre can really help set the tone. I’d go for Contemp romance, Historical romance or whatever widely known genre that best classifies your ms.
